Design and Construction

NWFHA filed a complaint with HUD against a developer based on design and construction Fair Housing Act violations on February 14, 2022. The complaint stated that the respondents violated Sections 804(f)(2) and 804(f)(3)(C) of the Fair Housing Act and accessibility requirements in designing and constructing a multi-building apartment complex in Spokane Valley, WA.

The complaint was resolved by conciliation agreement on January 20, 2023. Respondents agreed to provide an accessible common area fitness center; provide accessible Parking and an accessible route to building entrances and common use areas; attend and complete a minimum of three (3) hours of fair housing design and construction training administered by HUD or Accessibility FIRST; and pay Complainant NWFHA $10,000.00 for diversion of resources.
